Faux Floral Arrangement

I have the easiest faux floral arrangement hack that you can use all year! We will use clear Elmer’s glue to create “water.” Pottery Barn and many other companies sell their faux flower arrangements with a clear liquid at the bottom. I started thinking what could I use to create the same look.

Water is not a good choice with faux florals over a long period of time. I tried this and my trimmed stems started to react with the water and cause rust spots in my clear vase. Not a cute look at all.

I started thinking about clear epoxy which I will try out very soon but this is a tad more expensive. You can’t beat the price of good old Elmer’s glue. I honestly came across some clear glue in our overflowing craft drawer. So I thought let’s just give it a try.

I purchased my florals from Homegoods and my clear glass vase I already owned. I got it from Target and linked a similar one here. Now don’t get me wrong, I love fresh flowers! I think the smell wonderful and are such a nice touch! Sometimes I need a faux floral arrangement or two to help balance out my monthly flower budget. The best part of this is being switching out flowers for the season.

Steps for Faux Floral Arrangement

I highly recommend you make a mock floral arrangement first. I trimmed all my stems and arranged everything in the vase to my liking. I even took a picture of it to refer back to if needed.
Take everything out of the vase now that it’s all trimmed and prepped.
I added two bottles of clear Elmer’s glue to the vase. Do this slowly. I got some glue splatters on the inside and had to wipe them off with a paper towel and water. Not a big deal at all but slow and steady here friends! (You will have bubbles but after a bit of time they will disappear.
Once your glue is in your vase, add in the flowers and greenery. I added my greenery first and then added the flowers.

Side note: The glue takes a while to not be runny (multiple days). Mine still has some slight movement but it has gotten a lot more solidified.
