guaranteed fun!
It was a really hard decision on which room to redo in our home. The laundry room/mudroom was a very close second! In the end, I decided to tackle our bedroom. As parents, we typically put our children’s needs before our own, which is completely as it should be. You don’t even think twice about it. However, that doesn’t mean mom and dad don’t need a happy and calm place to end their busy days of adulting. I mean it’s essential for us to recharge and do it all over again the next day.

Our Current Bedroom
Our bedroom is a bit of a hodge podge. Our sweet little bedroom is on the smaller side but its very cozy in my opinion. We will be saving the antique nightstand and dresser for another room or passing it to a different family member. It belonged to my late grandparents and I can’t toss it to the curb.
The three things I love in this room are the original wood floors, the mustard chinoiserie duvet, and our wedding picture (hidden behind the tv). The duvet will be replaced but I am fan of mustard so that color may be sneaking back in somewhere.
I AM SO OVER the BEIGE (just so the people in the back can hear me) and the blah feeling in here! I don’t feel like our bedroom accurately represents my style at all. Also, we used to have two lamps until my oldest Haines was using our nightstand as a rock wall and CRASH! It broke, luckily no one was hurt. I was counting down the days to toss those lamps but its not the way I imagined it all going down.
Below are some pictures of our bedroom right now! I can’t wait to see the transformation!

Bedroom Plan for the next 8 weeks:
- Expand our bedroom closet
- Add built ins to the closet
- Brighten up the room with paint and wallpaper (one mural or all walls?)
- Purchase new linens and pillows
- Upgrade to a king bed (HOORAY!!!)- I have an idea of a bed hack for a designer dupe
- Purchase a new mattress
- New nightstands and dresser- I have purchased these and they will get a complete revamp
- Mount the tv
- Update lighting (ceiling fan, lamps or add wall scones)
- Add a rug
- Clean and polish wood floors
- Rearrange the furniture and layout
- Design a spot for our books
- Add some decorative touches
- Lastly, figure out if bike relocates to another room or is concealed somehow with a decorative room divider or stays visible to remind myself to workout
- Give a full update each week on the blog!
INSPO
Here is a peak at my some of my ideas and color options. I will be painting the dresser and nightstands below and will share that color soon! I’ll be adding and editing this as I go with your help!

Week One Plan:
- Clean and empty the entire closet
- Take measurements of the closet
- Move dresser
- Sketch up a plan for closet and built ins
- Price pre-made built-ins
- Start narrowing down wallpaper and paint colors
- Don’t make too much of a mess
Stay tuned for updates as we start this exciting challenge!
