I say this every time I complete a One Room Challenge, but I’m always nervous about getting everything done on time. This time was no different.
Headboards
Finishing the headboards was a major task for the bedroom. I bought navy fabric from Kravet to replace the white faux leather. The process is easy, but having a good pneumatic stapler makes a big difference. I recently got a new one from Sailrite, which saved me a lot of time when I reupholstered my dining room chairs. This is the long nose pneumatic stapler I used and highly recommend. I also got a quiet air compressor, which was a game-changer for working indoors. quiet air compressor.
Here’s how I did it:
- Carefully remove the old fabric and buttons with scissors, without damaging the foam or batting underneath.
- Spray upholstery adhesive on the headboard, smooth out the batting, and staple it in place, working from north to south, east to west. Leave 3 inches unstapled at each corner until the end. Trim excess batting.
Step 3: Add fabric the exact same way as you stapled the batting. My mom helped me with both headboards. It can be done by yourself but much easier with a friend.
Step 4: Attach the legs to the back at the height needed for your beds. Mine were adjustable which was perfect for us. I didn’t purchase a universal bed frame, so I used extra screws and washers to attach the headboard legs to the back of the bases.

Printer Tray aka Lego Mini Fig Display
I had a surprising and wonderful experience at a client’s house. While working on a small wallpaper repair, I noticed a printer tray on her wall filled with cute trinkets. I had been searching for one just like it to display my sons’ Lego mini figures. When I asked her where she got it, she told me she had collected several during an antique box phase. Then, she surprised me by pulling out a second one from her closet and giving it to me! I was thrilled. I had been searching online and locally without luck, so this was an amazing gift.
If I had more time, I would have stained the printer tray prior to hanging it. But I think it’s pretty adorable! I hung it under the window so the boys could access it. These are the hooks I used to hang the tray on the wall.
