My mom and I kicked off the week with a fun shopping trip to Houston. While we didn’t find anything for the boys’ shared bedroom, I did snag some great finds for the home. But I did get some inspiration for the boys’ room. We went by The Guild Shop and AG Antiques.

Painting
To make the painting project even easier, I was gifted this 9 piece Handy Trim and Roll Kit. Handy is a sponsor for the One Room Challeng. The brushes were fantastic and I loved that I had everything I needed to complete this painting project. I used the kit for priming the room and painting. You can find this 9 piece Handy kit here. In week four of the One Room Challenge, it was all about getting our paint on! My sweet mom, Paula, came to lend a hand again, which was super nice of her. We tackled painting the crown molding, windows, baseboards, and all three doors. Everything needed a second coat of paint too. The trim got a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams Green Onyx, while I went with Sherwin Williams Snowbound for the closet. For the ceiling, we just used some leftover flat white paint from another project.

Design Updates
I’ve decided not to use the animal-themed fabric for the room. Although I love the design, I worry that Haines might outgrow it soon, and it might not be worth the cost for just a few years of use. Going forward, I plan to choose fabrics that can grow with my boys or be repurposed elsewhere.
Week 5 Goals
- Finish wrapping the dresser in faux grasscloth
- Trim wallpaper
- Caulk room (new product)
- Prime walls for wallpaper
- Start installing wallpaper
- Add support to closet shelves along studs
- Clean up the room

I hope to knock out all the wallpaper during Week 5 so then I can start working on headboards and window treatments week 6! There are still a few design elements that need to be figured out.

I think there is someone else using SW Snowbound in the ORC? It’s a great color, and I love the thrifting! Can I go next time?
Come on! It’s always a fun time! 🙂 Snowbound is a great go to white!
