How are we halfway done with the ORC? There is still so much to do! Let’s have a recap on a successful and messy week 3.
I started week 3 with a perfect Facebook Marketplace find. I scored these two chairs for $150. My boys Haines and Keats, joined me for on the ride along with a car nap to Lake Charles. From Beaumont to Lake Charles you’re looking at about an hour drive back and forth. The boys were champs and slept the whole way. I might have lucked out twice!

These two wingback chairs are on the smaller scale but fit the room perfectly. I took them over to a local furniture shop that repairs and reupholsters furniture called Fine Touch Furnishings. Patrick, the owner, was wonderful. He showed me around the whole shop. Nathan would be the one to fix up my chairs. I picked a pretty neutral performance fabric that compliments what I have selected so far for the room.

I just finished skim coating the living room. What is skim coating? Skim coating is a common home improvement technique that uses a thin layer of joint compound to smooth out textured walls or repair damaged drywall to its original smooth surface. In my case, skim coating is necessary before installing my wallpaper. I plan on tackling the dining room next and working on the box molding before we install any wallpaper. Do you want more information on wallpaper? Check out my full blog post from the Fall 2022 ORC on Wallpaper 101.
I ran into a slight issue with the current wood paneling in the dining room. Right now the chair rail hits exactly at 4 feet which is halfway mark on the wall. But I don’t know what’s behind the paneling or how difficult it may be to remove and start over. Thankfully I asked friends and followers and got some great feedback. I’ll be testing out some ideas during week 4!

I popped into a local lighting and furniture shop on Tuesday and might have found the perfect chandelier for the dining room! I need to measure and go back this week to see if its a match before I spill the TEA!
